Newly Processed Old Images: #5

Purple Sandpiper is primarily a coastal bird. When I got the bird alert SMS of the presence of this species at the Lake Balaton in western Hungary I could not believe my eyes. The weather was very unpleasant and foggy but I could make some memorable images of this mega rarity.

  1. Thanks, I can’t wait to travel to the Netherlands for photographing wintering Purple Sandpipers then following them to the breeding grounds in north Norway. 🙂

  2. Hi Szimi They are not to common around here with just an isolated location in Norfolk and Suffolk, UK where they occur. Regards burhinus

  3. I guess it is the same in the Netherlands. I was surprised to see some recently submitted shorebird data of hundreds of wintering Purple Sandpipers quite far to the north along the Norwegian coastline.
